Single Line Text field
• Does not support hard carriage returns. The text will wrap.
• Field placeholder only takes up as much space as it needs. Can be inserted in the middle of a sentence.
• Text will inherit the styling of the document where the field is inserted.
Multiline text field
• Hard carriage returns used in the field are recognized by Word.
• Field placeholder takes up the entire line in Word.
• Text will inherit the styling of the document where the field is inserted.
Rich Text field
• Rich text fields allow you to add stylings, such as font type and font size.
• IMPORTANT: Select the text to which you want to apply the styling before applying your formatting.
• Text will use styling specified in the Rich Text field (rich text is turned into HTML that gets converted by Word into XML). Font styling and font size will default to the Document Default styling.
NOTE: due to a bug in Word, add an extra line after your text when applying alignment options in a Rich Text field. (this is only applicable to alignment, all other options work fine without the extra line.)
NOTE: due to another bug in Word, font size 12 is not an option for Rich Text fields. Choose another field type to achieve font size 12 (we recommend Single Line or Multiline Text Fields), or select another font size.
• Field placeholder takes up an entire line in Word.
• To combine bullet points and font styling (such as bold and italics), add bullet points directly to the values in the Rich Text field using these keyboard shortcuts:
on a Mac: Alt + 8
on a PC: Alt + 0149 (on the numeric keypad, not your keyboard)
Want to use a different style bullet? You can copy + paste any bullet point into the field.
Single Select field
Single Select fields allow you to create a drop-down menu from which one option can be selected.
You can also insert another Woodpecker Field value or a Clause from your Clause Library as an option in the menu.
Select the grey box on the right of the option field to get a list of your Clauses and Fields. Click an option to insert. (Read more about macros here)
Notes:
• Field placeholder only takes up as much space as it needs. Can be inserted in the middle of a sentence.
• Text will inherit the styling of the document where the field is inserted.
• Does not support hard carriage returns.
Multi-Select field
Multi-Select fields allow you to create a drop-down menu from which you can choose multiple options. You can also specify how to separate these values (new line, bulleted list, comma, a new page, etc.)
• For the Comma and Space separator, the field only takes up as much space as it needs. For all other Separator options, the field will take up an entire line in Word.
• Text will inherit the styling of the document where the field is inserted.
• Multi-Select is a great way to build lists and blocks of text such as Address or Signature Blocks.
• You can also specify a custom separator by simply typing out a custom character after placing your cursor within the "Separator" selection box.
