Compatibility issues with Internet Explorer

On older versions of Microsoft Word on PC platforms, Word renders add-ins like Woodpecker using the Internet Explorer web browser. Unfortunately, Microsoft deprecated Internet Explorer as of June 15th, 2022, making Internet Explorer incompatible with the Woodpecker add-in. Users who attempt to launch Woodpecker on a system that uses Internet Explorer as its web browser will not be able to use the add-in.

For users who wish to continue using Woodpecker through the desktop version of Word, Microsoft recommends upgrading to Windows 10 version 1903 or higher, and Microsoft 365 version 16.011629 or higher. Updating to these versions or a newer version will allow Word to load Woodpecker through Microsoft Edge instead.

For users who are unable to upgrade Windows and/or Microsoft 365, Woodpecker can still be used through Word Online in a supported web browser. Supported browsers for Word Online include, but are not limited to: Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, and Safari.
